Photocurable and Charge-Transporting Smart Ligands for Patterning Emissive Perovskite Nanocrystals

Metal halide perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) have attracted of great interest as emitter for next-generation display due to their outstanding photoluminescence quantum yield, wide color gamut, and narrow emission width. However, their weak chemical stability against polar molecules, including polar organic solvents, prevents employing photolithography for their pixilation in display. In this regard, we developed functional organic ligands (L1 and L2) for fine patterning of emitting PNCs without damaging the PNC films. L1 and L2 containing photocurable azide unit exhibited efficient and fast photo-crosslinking of PNCs attached with these ligands, maintaining high PLQY of 88%. Furthermore, L1 and L2 showed high charge carrier mobility of 6.77*10-4 cm2/Vs and 7.22*10-4 cm2/Vs, respectively. These results suggest the high potential of these ligands for fast and micron-patterning of PNC films for high resolution displays.
