The properties of silica thin layer derived from zirconium-doped oligosiloxane resin on PET film

Siloxanes have many commercial and industrial applications such as adhesives, coatings and plastics because of the water repellency, low thermal conductivity, and high flexibility, etc. Especially, water repellency which is one of demands for improving the quality related to a reliability and stability of semiconductors, optical lenses, solar cell, automotive and display materials. In this study, our group employed zirconium-doped oligosiloxane resin with hydrophobicity and transparency simultaneously for flexible hard coating. The Zr-doped resins were synthesized by sol-gel reaction. The coating solutions including synthesized resin and photo-initiator were coated on the PET film and cured by photochemical process. The Final thin film properties such as the wettability, pencil hardness, surface roughness, and optical properties, were evaluated.
