MOFs (metal-organic frameworks) are emerging 3D porous materials, which are constructed from coordination bonds between metal and ligands. The organic ligand parts of MOFs could be decorated with functional groups in relatively ease manners toward target applications. In this presentation, our recent efforts to vinyl group functionalizations of MOFs toward MOF-polymer composite material preparation will be presented. Vinyl group could directly be used for thiol-ene photopolymerization to covalent connections between MOFs and polymers, and maximum 60 wt% MOF was successfully installed in mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) without phase-separation or particle-aggregations. In addition, the vinyl-MOFs was successfully applied to surface-modification with polymeric species. PLAn and PSn were installed at the surface of MOFs, and PLAn part could be selectively removed by etching process. The vinyl group is very versatile tool for functionalization of MOFs with polymeric materials.
