Quercetin is flavonoids that are widely recognized as anti-aging agent for skin. However, its insolubility in water had limited its use with other health beneficial substances such as citrates. Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) can be a good candidate to solve this problem because hydrophilic or hydrophobic chemicals can be loaded into their amphiphilic internal mesopores. We demonstrate the quercetin in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) or 1,3-butylene glycol (BG) can be efficiently loaded into the amphiphilic mesopores of MSN and released in hydrogel. For the 2:3 mixing ratio of quercetin and MSN in DMSO or BG, maximum weight fractions of loaded quercetin in MSN were 19.34 and 20. 58 wt%, respectively. Then, at the presence of small amount of BG and DMSO in mesopores, 87.4 and 91.8 % of loaded quercetin in MSN were released, respectively.
