Research on developing high-performance electrochemical sensors that detect neurotransmitters using various two-dimensional materials has been actively conducted, as detecting neurotransmitters in clinical samples is essential to diagnosing neurodegenerative diseases. In this work, we used MXene to build composite hydrogel to detect neurotransmitters in an aqueous solution. The composite hydrogel was fabricated through UV cross-linking MXene flakes and photosensitive prepolymer. SEM can confirm the porous structure of the MXene composite hydrogel, which benefits target molecules diffusing efficiently into the composite hydrogel. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy(EIS), Cyclic Voltammetry(CV), and Differential Pulse Voltammetry(DPV) confirmed the dopamine detection performance of our sensor. Our hydrogel-based sensor exhibited a LOD of 5 nM for Dopamine from the electrochemical measurements. We expect the MXene composite hydrogel to be a versatile biosensor detecting wide range of neurotransmitters, including uric acid, ascorbic acid, and so on.
