PEDOT:PSS is generally used as hole transport layer as well as electron blocking layer because it exhibits excellent characteristics such as solution processing, electrical conductivity adjustable, and high transparency. However, the efficiency and stability of the device may be limited due to the intrinsic acidic and hygroscopic properties of the PEDOT:PSS. To solve this problem, an OPD device was manufactured by introducing imidazole, a mild organic base, as a dopant. The stability is improved by adjusting the acidity of PEDOT:PSS, and the injection of electrons through the anode can be effectively prevented due to a deeper HOMO of neutral PEDOT:PSS confirmed by dark current analysis.
