To fabricate the multilayer organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) by a solution process, the previously formed lower layer should have excellent solvent resistance. Therefore, for insoluble hole-transport materials, well-defined block copolymers (poly(A-b-B)) containing thermally crosslinkable benzocyclobutene group and hole-transporting triphenylamine group were precisely synthesized by living anionic polymerization. The anionic polymerization of A was first carried out to prove its living nature. A series of poly(A-b-B) with different molecular weights of poly(B) segment was then synthesized to determine the effect of the chain length of B block on the hole-transport property. Moreover, the solubility test was performed for investigating the solvent resistance of poly(A-b-B) films and the optimized curing conditions were found.
