Bio-adhesives such as tissue adhesives, hemostatic agents, and tissue sealants have potential advantages for wound closure, hemostatic, and wet tissues. Recently, adhesive hydrogel is useful for bonding to or between tissues for a range of biomedical applications. Catechol-containing hydrogels have been exploited in biomedical fields due to their strong adhesive properties and biocompatibility even in the wet condition. The aim of this study is to improve the physical properties and bio compatibility of DOPA-based hydrogel. The adhesive Interpenetrating polymer networks(IPN) hydrogels composed of hyaluronic acid, poly(vinyl alcohol) and DOPA derivatives were prepared by freezing-thawing method and characterized. The results showed that the PVA-HA/DOPA derivative copolymers-based IPN hydrogels were improved the physical properties and adhesiveness on the various substrates.
