Leaked air freshener solution can cause serious damages on interior plastic parts. Polyurethane (PU) coating on a surface plays a role of protecting the injection molded plastic parts from the chemical mixture solution. However, thermocurable PU coating layer is strongly adhered to the polymer surface, which brings about the problem in recycling process of plastic parts. Herein, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene/poly(butylene terephthalate) (ABS/PBT) blends were investigated to secure the chemical resistance without coating layers. The standard chemical solution was chosen as a mixture of isoamyl acetate, limonene, and linalool, and chemical resistance was studied using Hansen solubility parameter. The morphology of PBT phase was varied from the shear condition, and β-form crystal grew up as shear rate increased. The injection molded ABS/PBT blend with blend ratio of 7:3 exhibited the robust air freshener resistance without further post coating.
