Effect of SPPhO content on the mechanical properties of PLA/SPPhO blends

This study focused on increasing the storage modulus of PLA at high temperatures by blending SPPhO ionomers with high Tg. At the same time, the impact strength of these blends was also studied. As a result of blending SPPhO, a high Tg ionomer, it was confirmed that the storage modulus of PLA at 150 ℃ or higher rapidly increased. In addition, it was found that the storage moduli showed higher values as the content of SPPhO increased. The impact strength of the blend decreased as the content of the ionomer increased. The reason might be that the phase separation of SPPhO occurred within the blend, so the PLA phase that occupied most of the matrix became heterogeneous.
