For practical applications of polymer solar cell (PSC), along with power conversion efficiency (PCE) values, long term stability is also an essential requirement. In this work, a new photocrosslinkable polymer, PM6-X30, was developed by introducing 1,4-pentadiene groups to the side chains of the PM6 polymer. PM6-X30 inherits the unique properties of the high-performance PM6 backbone, resulting in a high PCE of 12.83% for the corresponding PSC. Under mild UV irradiation (λ = 365 nm), a stable donor polymer network was formed. Subsequently, the crosslinked PM6-X30-based PSC sustained more than 80% of its original PCE after thermal aging at 80 °C for 180 min, a superior result compared to those of the PSCs based on non-crosslinked active layers. This work demonstrates a promising strategy for boosting the long term stability of high performance PSCs.
