Autologous fat grafting is one of the most common procedures used in plastic surgery to make up soft tissue deficiency or depression deformity. However, the lack of metabolic and structural support can cause complications such as cyst formation and calcification. To remedy for their shortcomings, various scaffolds that induce tissue regeneration has been studied in the medical field. Allograft adipose matrix (AAM) and poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid (PLGA) showed eminent clinical promise as regenerative scaffolds. Magnesium hydroxide (MH), an alkaline ceramic, has attracted attention as an additive to improve biocompatibility. In this study, we combined fat graft with injectable regenerative scaffolds: natural (AAM) and synthetic (PLGA/MH microsphere). Comparing the volume retention changes and viabilities of injected autologous fat graft, injectable natural (AAM), and synthetic (PLGA/MH microsphere) scaffolds will provide a reasonable basis for fat grafting.
