Study on the manufacturing and physical properties of Bio-waterborne PU for UHMWPE fabric

UHMWPE fiber has excellent cutting resistance, so it is manufactured as a protective product for safety gloves and is used to protect hands from glass or steel plates, sharp blades, cutters, etc. in the working environment. PU, a typical coating resin, is composed of a soft segment and a hard segment, and is used as a coating resin for gloves because it has excellent wearability and activity as well as slip resistance. In this study, eco-friendly bio waterborne polyurethane was synthesized according to the ratio change using one bio-ether type polyol. Mechanical properties such as friction coefficient, tensile strength, and elongation of the manufactured bio-coating resin were measured, and conditions for optimal peel strength and cutting strength were studied by applying to UHMWPE fabric.
