Supercapacitor with Magnetic Responsive Active Material

In myriad applications, soft magnetic actuators have shown attractive advantages, come from the soft body and the magnetic responsibility, through successful demonstration of dexterous and untethered manipulations. Conventional soft magnetic actuators, however, have relied on some simple designs and stuck in mono-functionality. Consequently, we should develop an advanced magnetic actuator with structural programmability and multi-functionality to enlarge their potential to systematic applications. Here, we present supercapacitor integrated magnetic actuators with broad range of origami structure. By the on-demand cell configuration during fabrication process based on the mask-assisted printing, we can program the cell configuration such as the number of cells, folding pattern, and even connections between each cell according to the purpose. We demonstrate their magnetic actuation such as diverse origami pattern and interaction with pre-designed electric circuits and firefly robot.
