Recently, redox-active organic materials (ROMs) have shown great promise as an alternative electrode material because of their natural abundance, high theoretical specific capacity, low cost, and easy tunability. Furthermore, the flexible nature of organic materials owing to loosely packed intermolecular structures allows fast diffusion for charge-carrying ions, which is a prerequisite for electrode materials' high-rate performance. However, in practice, most organic electrode materials exhibit slow rate capability with low specific capacity due to their electrically insulating nature. They also suffer from high solubility in the electrolytes, leading to poor cycle stability. In this presentation, we demonstrate various composite strategies of organic electrode materials with nanocarbons to achieve high-rate performance and stable cycle stability.
