The stimuli-responsive functionalization of micro/nano-structured materials plays a key role in flexible sensors and soft actuators, which can assist human sensomobility. Inspired by the structures and functions of biological systems, we developed hierarchical ZnO nanowire array-based electronic skins capable of detecting both static and dynamic stimuli, like skin mechanoreceptors. For touchless position sensing under a magnetic field, we suggested an on-skin electronic compass based on printable magnetic paste. By mimicking biological origami, we demonstrated a soft, hinge-less, and intelligent magnetic origami that enables self-controlled actuation by just guiding light and magnetic field stimuli. The excellent characteristics of such stimuli-responsive materials facilitate more interactive features of the sensors and actuators, making them practical for application to human augmentation technologies.
