Biodegradable PLA is difficult to use as a general-purpose polymer due to its disadvantages of low melting point (Tm), low thermal decomposition temperature, and brittleness. Therefore, in this study, the physical properties of the blends were measured by blending PLA and poly(styrene-co-methacrylate) ionomers neutralized with Li+ to increase the melting point of PLA. The storage modulus of blends according to temperature was measured from the DMA experiment, and the values of the impact strength of the blends were determined by the IZOD impact experiment. The experimental results showed that as the ionomer content of the blend increased, the modulus at Tm or higher increased because the ionomer in the blend still maintained a high modulus at that temperature. Meanwhile, the impact strength of the blend decreased because the PLA in the blend contained phase-separated ionomer regions.
