The electric double layer (EDL) formed at the interface of electrodes and electrolytes is crucial in electrochemical applications. The structural characteristics of the EDL, where the mobility of one ionic species is constrained by its covalent bond with the network, are active area of research. Herein, we report experimental results on the capacitance response in ionoelastomer interfaces. We synthesized symmetric ionic liquid monomers based on EMIM TFSI, and the EDL capacitance of the ionoelastomers is decoupled using two sets of electrodes with different surface areas. Our findings suggest that the EDL capacitance is lower for polymeric ion species in both polyanions and polycations. These experimental results are consistent with the recently reported capacitance profile of polymerized ionic liqid under the hard-wall boundary condition. It is noteworthy that the experimental evidence we have provided can make use of understanding the effect of polymers on the ionic matters.
