Multiscale Study of Strain-Dependent Charge Transport in Deformable Conjugated Polymers

초록

내용
The stretchable polymer semiconductors should exhibit stable electrical characteristics during deformation to be used in stretchable electronics. Nevertheless, only a small number of conjugated polymers have been found to maintain their charge carrier mobility when deformed. Herein, the structural requirements for conjugated polymers based on diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) are discussed to prevent the loss of electrical characteristics during deformation. The inclusion of a flexible donor moiety between DPP acceptors reduces crystalline packing and dramatically enhances mechanical deformability. In addition, strain-induced flattening of polymer chains is observed in DPP polymers with flexible donor moieties, decreasing the energy barrier for hopping transport. Controlling the backbone flexibility of conjugated polymer allows for achieving stretchable organic transistors with remarkable charge-carrier mobility under strain up to 80%.
