Effects of Polyketone‐grafted Carbon Nanotube on the Thermal, Mechanical, and Electrical Properties of Polyketone Nanocomposites

Polyketone (PK), a new eco-friendly engineering plastic obtained by copolymerizing olefins and carbon monoxide, possesses excellent mechanical properties and outstanding chemical stability. Carbon nanotube (CNT) has been extensively studied as a reinforcement in polymer composites due to its excellent mechanical properties, thermal stability, and electrical properties. However, neat CNTs incorporated in the PK matrix tend to form aggregates due to the relatively poor interfacial adhesion between CNTs and PK matrix. In this study, to obtain PK/MWCNT composites with enhanced thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties through improved interfacial adhesion, PK‐grafted multi-walled CNT (MWCNT-g-PK) was prepared and then melt-mixed with PK in various proportions. The morphology and molecular interaction of PK/MWNT-g-PK composites were examined using SEM and FT-IR, respectively. The effects of MWNT-g-PK on the thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties of PK/MWNT-g-PK composites were investigated using DSC, TGA, DMA, universal tensile machine, and surface resistivity meter.
