Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is used in various fields based on high economic feasibility and productivity. Despite the increasing proportion of plastic materials in the area of automobiles, due to the low dimensional stability of PET, the development of research to utilize PET has been insufficient. Our study aims to improve the elasticity and dimensional stability of PET through melt blending with Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) with excellent mechanical properties. Injection and spinning through reaction extrusion of PET and LCP were performed, and the epoxide-based reactive additive was added to increase the compatibility of PET and LCP. The chemical reaction using a chain extender (CE) based on epoxide is an established method to prevent degradation and improve process capability and the final properties of thermoplastic resins. The improvement of compatibility can be seen in the SEM images, and the interfacial strength is determined to be improved through the tensile test results. The strength of the injection specimen increased by 7 % and toughness by 8.5 %, compared to PET.
