We use additive engineering to improve the optoelectronic properties of organic photodetectors (OPDs) by adding heterocyclic 1,3-diazole to PEDOT:PSS films. Optimized OPDs for the diagnosis of cardiac disease is demonstrated by the photoplethysmography (PPG) method. As the results show, the use of heterocyclic 1,3-diazole can greatly enhance the photosensitivity of OPDs while providing excellent noise suppression. Benefiting from enhanced performance, we allow for more accurate measurements with optimized OPDs. We verify this in our PPG measurements. Under this flow, we also demonstrate the ability of the optimized OPDs to diagnose blood circulation conditions and cardiac disease after feature extraction of the PPG waveform. This function is the first time successfully demonstrated in a single organic photodiode, which will greatly facilitate the commercialization of OPDs.
