Constructing patches on colloidal nanoparticles is an effective strategy for the fabrication of building blocks for colloidal assemblies because the patches can enable the directional binding between the nanoparticles. In this presentation, we demonstrate the formation of polyhedral arrangement of the patches on diblock copolymer micelles. We first synthesized diblock copolymers having various block ratios by RAFT polymerization. By decreasing the block ratio of the corona to the core, the number of the patches on the micelle surface was increased. Moreover, configurations of the patches on the surface were varied from the planar triangle to the octahedron with the corresponding number of the patches. In addition, we were able to create tetrahedral patchy micelles in different sizes by varying the total molecular weights of the copolymers.
