Lignin, one of the most abundant biopolymer in the world, has diverse functionalities such as UV protection, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and pollution adsorption. Lignin nanoparticles (LNPs) can be fabricated through self-assembly methods, which reinforces lignin functionalities by reducing the structural complexity of pure lignin. LNPs is a promising material that can be used in various fields and the performance of LNPs depends on their structure and size. Therefore, it is important to uncover the effect of synthesize variables on LNPs morphology. In this study, we prepared LNPs via nanoprecipitation and investigated the effect of purification process that recovers LNPs from colloid solution. Four purification methods were applied and differences in size and shape were observed. This result indicates that the purification method may contribute on self-assembly procedures of LNPs. This research was supported by material and component technology R&D Program through the KEIT(20019204).
