With the rapid growth of global energy demand, it is urgent to find renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources to replace traditional fossil fuels. Therefore, researchers are focused on exploring and seeking clean and renewable new energy to replace the traditional fossil fuel. At present, it is generally believed that hydrogen energy is the future green renewable energy carrier because of its high energy density, zero carbon emission, easy storage, reforming and other advantages. However, it consumes a lot of energy to prepare hydrogen through traditional methods, which greatly limits the promotion and application of hydrogen energy. The conversion of solar energy to hydrogen production through photocatalysis solves the problem of traditional hydrogen production. Metallic sulfide have attracted much attention in the field of catalysis due to their low cost, diverse structure, flexible composition and electronic states. In this paper, the recent progress in catalytic hydrogen evolution of metal sulfides is reviewed, and the future development is speculated and prospected.
