Developing high-performance photocatalysts for the removal of environmental pollutants is an effective strategy. A novel ternary photocatalyst was fabricated by sequentially introducing SnS nanoparticles (NPs) and NiAl-LDH (LDH) nanosheets on the surface of g-C3N4 (CN) via a facile hydrothermal method, which is applied for the photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline under visible light illumination. The unique structural characteristic endow SnS/LDH/CN heterojunctions with larger surface area, abundant surface active sites and improved hole trapping ability. Furthermore, the synergistic effect among the components enhance the transfer efficiency of charge carriers and light-harvesting capacity, thus resulting in remarkable photocatalytic activity of tetracycline. In particular, SnS/LDH/CN heterojunction exhibited the highest degradation performance with 95.47% removal of tetracycline (20 mg/L) in 60 min, which is 96.2 times higher than that of LDH, and the degradation activity was still above 90% after 4 cycles.
