Research on triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG) has taken great interest due to their potential as wearable self-powered electronics and their applications in many fields. Improving the wearability of TENG device is important which can be approached by using soft materials such as hydrogels and elastomers. The hydrogels can be modified into ionically conductive which can replace the stiff electrode, and the double network system hydrogel could be applied to improve the overall TENG device stretchability and flexibility. TENG devices produce electric signals that can also be used as wearable human movement sensors and by incorporating mechanoluminescence, it can also provide optical signals.
