Approaches to develop hydrogel fabrication that can provide a wide range of mechanical properties and give reversible modulus tunability by external stimuli for remote trigger application on mechanical property control is highly valued. In this study, a photo-switchable hydrogel with a double network structure was prepared, having the ability to reversibly alter its modulus in response to light irradiation. When exposed to UV and visible light, the hydrogel undergoes a reversible shift in modulus from low to high via host-guest interaction. These matrices could be remotely controlled, allowing on-demand access to programmable materials for a variety of applications in material sciences.
