Polyurethanes(PUs) is one of the important polymers widely used in various industries. Recently, Bio-based polyurethane(BPU) has been attracted due to the sustainability, biodegradability and high abundance. In addition, the development of alternative raw materials in renewable resources has been studied in the PUs industry due to oil shortage problems and environmental problems. In this work, We used castor oil as polyol to synthesize BPU and isophorone diisocyanate and n-methyldiethanolamine were used of BPU as an isocyanate and extender respectively. We have studied the difference in chemical structure and mechanical properties under varying NCO:OH ratio. The chemical structure and mechanical properties were characterized using FT-IR, GPC and XRD. We also confirmed the optimum synthesis condition. This work was supported by the Technology Development Program(S3174803) funded by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups(MSS, Korea).
