Polycaprolactones are one of the most prevalent aliphatic polyesters due to their sustainable origins, attractive properties, and degradability. However, most of them have certain limitations for practical applications such as limited physical properties and slow degradation rate. Here, we designed a range of polycaprolactones with tunable properties as well as reasonable degradability or circularity from bio-based resources. Long alkyl side chain diluted entanglements, thereby providing excellent adhesion to a surface; a triblock copolymer containing the polycaprolactone were synthesized to produce a sustainable adhesive material. These adhesive polymers exhibited a wide range of adhesion from low level (e.g., sticky note) to strong adhesion (e.g., duct tape). Furthermore, the polycaprolactone with a short alkyl chain from lignin-based resources were synthesized and their chemical recyclability has been investigated.
