Generally, Muscovite type Mica, which has high insulation resistance, insulation strength, heat resistance and mechanical strength, is used as the main insulator of High Voltage motors of 3.3 kV or higher. Mica tape is generally wound using Semi or Auto-Taping equipment, and the method of winding (width, overlap, and tension) has a significant effect on the permeability and workability of epoxy resins. As a result of tensile testing on 3 types of Mica Tape products from NRK used in the Hyosung H-V Motors Part, the Mica Tape began to crack at 35N (3.5kgf) to 40N (4kgf), broke at 60N (6kgf), and peeled off at 45N (4.5kgf). Although there was no change up to 2-3% of the tensile load torsion amount, the tape tension was hardly wrinkle-free when working at 40 N (4 kgf) or less, and the optimum tension value of 35 N (3.5 kgf) or less was recommended and reflected in the Hyosung standard manual.
