내용
Complex coacervate is a liquid-liquid phase separation phenomenon that occurs when two oppositely charged polyelectrolytes, or macromolecules, are reacted to reach electrostatic equilibrium. Since the coacervation process involves no chemical reactions, coacervates are biocompatible and they do not damage proteins & growth factors that are encapsulated within them. In addition, their water-immiscibility, and low surface tension make them an attractive material for drug delivery and interfacial adhesive coating systems. In this presentation, fucoidan, a FDA approved polysaccharide, based complex coacervates as various protein delivery systems for regenerative medicine and immunotherapy applications will be discussed.
