MXene group, which includes metal carbides and / or nitrides, is a new 2D material. Among them, Ti3C2Tx showed excellent metallic conductivity and mechanical properties. Therefore, Ti3C2Tx has been studied for many applications (energy storage, electromagnetic shielding materials, sensor, etc.). The hydrophilic surface of MXene after acidic etching process can be dispersed in the aqueous phase. However, aqueous phase dispersions can lead to oxidation and decomposition for long term storage and have compatibility problems in processing for composites with common hydrophobic polymers. Here we showed surface modification of MXene from hydrophilic surface to hydrophobic for using alkylphosphonic acid and amine group. Modified MXene exhibits dispersion stability in organic solutions and is easily adaptable to many processing technologies.
