In this study, the non-stoichiometric molar ratio among CH3NH3I:PbI2:DMSO solutions was applied to control the quality of the perovskite layers. A homogeneous grain size and a regular inter-grain arrangement were obtained in the optimized solubility via scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analyses. We also confirmed that the PSCs (Perovskite Solar Cells) with the optimized condition exhibited higher current density and enhanced electrical properties through the Lamer model effect. Consequently, tailoring the solubility of CH3NH3PbI3 can have a critical effect on the fabrication of high quality perovskite thin film based photovoltaic cells.
