Morphology and mechanical properties of gypsum/PBAT composites

The use of flexible films in agriculture has increased substantially over the past year bringing benefits to producers. PBAT (Poly(butylene adipate-co-terepthalate)) is considered a possible candidate to replace the polyethylene due to its biodegradability. In this study, PBAT and gypsum were melt compounded using a twin screw extruder. The mechanical and thermal properties of the composites were investigated by UTM, DSC and TGA. The dispersion and distribution of the gypsum were studied by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis.
