Recently, stem cell therapies have demonstrated efficacy in many applications. Especially, stem cell derived exosomes are focused on since their ability of drug delivery. This novel approach offers the added advantages of in vivo safety and low immunogenicity since using patient-derived tissue as a source of individualized and biocompatible therapeutic drug delivery vehicles. Also, stimuli sensitive hydrogels have been investigated because their injectability and biodegradability. In this work, a biodegradable and injectable hydrogel, poly(ε-caprolactone)-poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(ε-caprolactone) which undergoes temperature-dependent sol-to-gel transition, is used as carrier of exosome due to their ability to form three-dimensional networks. Encapsulated exosome with hydrogel is promising for therapeutic effect in terms of minimized the toxic effects, maximizes local effects, and extended drug retention time.
