Full color printed passive matrix image sensor fabricated by electrohydrodynamic jet printing process

Here we demonstrated printed passive matrix image sensor composed of individual color selective thin film organic photodiodes(OPDs) with area under 200 µm × 200 µm for low cost and high performance image sensor. Fabrication and patterning of each red-, green-, blue-selective OPDs was enabled by using electrohydrodynamic (EHD) jet printing process with poly[(2,5-bis(2-hexyldecyloxy)phenylene)-alt-(5,6-difluoro-4,7-di(thiophen-2-yl)benzo[c]-[1,2,5]thiadiazole)] as a red-selective material, poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) as a green-selective materials, and poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene-alt-bithiophene) as a blue-selective materials. The patterned OPDs accurately distinguish colors without color filter and the high performance of each color-selective OPDs such as spectral responsivity, linear dynamic range, specific detectivity make them attractive comparing inorganic based image sensor.
