Synthesis and characterization of polyimides with aniline moieties in the main chain

Due to its high electrical conductivity, stability, and electroactive characteristics, polyaniline has attracted considerable attention for potential applications in electrochromic devices, sensors and photodiodes.[24] And polyimides are very interesting group of incredibly strong and astoundingly heat and chemical resistant polymers. Their strength and heat and chemical resistance are so great that these materials often replace glass and metal.[25] In this study, a series of electrochromic aromatic polyimides with aniline units in the backbone were prepared by the chemical imidazation from 9 kinds of diamine monomers and 4,4’-(Hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride(6FDA). The molecular structures of the polyimides were analyzed by means of fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), UV spectroscopy and cyclic voltammograms(C-V).
